Growing up, Jimmy Smagula was very active in music, playing piano, trumpet, and clarinet.
When he was 15 years old, he auditioned for and was accepted into the acclaimed City Kids Repertory company in New York City. During his time there, he shared the stage with artists such as Whitney Houston, Gloria Estefan, and Demi Moore.
He was cast as a Convict in the musical comedy film The Producers in 2005. Based on the eponymous 2001 Broadway musical, the film stars Nathan Lane, Matthew Broderick, Uma Thurman, Will Ferrell, Gary Beach, Roger Bart, and Jon Lovitz.
