Andrew Christensen Obituary Remembering A Life Well-Lived

Andrew Christensen obituary was shared by his family.  Andrew, aged 87, peacefully passed away at his residence in Taylorsville, Utah, on January 28, 2023. 

He was known as Andy and was the oldest of his seven siblings. He was born on May 26, 1935, to Isabel Louise Mickelson Christensen and Andrew Ivan Christensen.

Andrew was a cherished brother, friend, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and husband.

Andy spent his early years in Eureka, Utah, where his father was employed in the mining sector. 

His pursuit of knowledge brought him to Tintic High School, where he met Jeanette, the woman he would marry. 

Jeanette enthusiastically supported him as he played center for the basketball team.

Andy worked for the Union Pacific Railroad and in the mining sector after high school.

Moreover, Andy and Jeanette married on April 20th, 1957.

In 1958, the Army drafted Andy, and he served as a Transportation Specialist in Alaska. 

After completing his military service, Andy began working at Hercules Aerospace, where he dedicated 33 years and one month of his career before retiring. 

During his time at Hercules, Andy pursued a degree in Engineering at Weber State University.

Andy and Jeanette were blessed with four children and were sealed in the LDS Salt Lake Temple on December 15, 1975. 

Throughout his life, Andy served in various roles within the church, but he found particular joy in doing as a Bishop. 

Sadly, Jeanette passed away in 1994.

In 1996, Andy married Violet Palmer, and together they embarked on a happy retirement filled with travel, exploration in their 5th wheel, temple work, and cherished moments with close friends. 

Their twenty-six years together were a blessing to each other’s lives and to their combined children and grandchildren.

Andy was passionate about running, camping, hunting, snowmobiling, riding hside-by-sideide, and traveling. 

He cherished spending time with his lifelong neighborhood friends, enjoying rounds of golf, and grabbing a Diet Coke at Burger King. 

Andy’s love for his grandchildren was boundless.

He attended every sports game and dance recital, never missed a birthday, and took a genuine interest in each grandchild’s life and future.

Preceding Andy in death are his parents, his cherished wife Jeanette, his brother Kenneth Christensen, his sister Cheryl Wood, and his brother-in-law Mike Mildon.

The funeral services occurred on Friday, February 3, 2023, at 11:00 am at McDougal Funeral Home, at 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah.

Interment occurred at Valley View Memorial Park, 4400 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah.

Andy’s lovely wife, Violet, predeceased him, and his four children from his marriage to Jeanette, Jeff (DeAnna), Scott (Kris), Chad (Laura), and Kimberly Vance (Ryan), survive him.

He also left behind Violet’s children, Cheri Fivas (Bruce), Jana Thomas (Brian), and Daniel Palmer (Shantel).  

The deceased’s brother-in-law, Sam Wood, and his sister-in-law Janice Christensen survive him.
