Dolly Parton shuts down reporter pushing her on politics (video)
A reporter tried to get Dolly Parton to comment on politics, but it didn't work out so well.
The country superstar, 72, sat down with "Nightline" anchor David Wright recently to talk about a variety of topics.
At the start of their interview, Parton, who is the most honored female country performer of all time, warned Wright not to ask her about politics.
"I'm not being political," she said. "I don't do politics. I'm not getting into any of that. I have a lot of fans out there, and I don't want to offend anybody."

"Besides, I just don't get into that. If you are deciding you may want to ask me something more serious, don't, because I'm not going to answer it," Parton added.
However, the interviewer pressed on, pushing further to get her views on President Donald Trump.
The "Just Because I'm a Woman" singer then stood firm, shutting down the questioning. In the clip, she can be heard saying, "I'm not addressing that. I do not get into that."
"Of course I have my opinion about everybody and everything, but I learned a long time ago to keep your damn mouth shut if you want to stay in show business. I'm not in politics. I'm an entertainer.”
Wright continued, "And yet, you are also a role model."
With a smile, Parton told him, "Yes, I am, that's why I don't talk about people."
The legendary singer already said in a 2017 interview with People that she doesn't do politics because she's an entertainer.
But even after her statement, many people still asked about her stance on politics, in particular, her opinions on President Trump.
Parton rose to stardom with the success of her debut album, "Hello, I'm Dolly," in 1967.
Among her several accolades are nine Grammy awards, 10 Country Music Association Awards, seven Academy of Country Music Awards, and three American Music Awards.
